REUNION...

...so I spent the entire weekend singing with the SARMU Reunion gang and it was simply the best weekend i've had in years! I can't say enough how fun it was and now i'm going through some mild depression. The build up for the kids then the reunion was so huge that it's hard to go back to normal life after that. I sang "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt which is one of my alltime favorite songs and i'm pleased to say I received a standing ovation to a sold out crowd on the last night. It's the biggest compliment a singer can receive and I teared up on stage. Thanks guys...thanks! A friend of mine taped it on her phone so here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAwEO9C4JlI&feature=share Love you all :) "Turn down the lights, turn down the bed..." - Bonnie Raitt

SARMU...

...so we just got done the SARMU kid show and now it's on to the Reunion. The kids did so good and I couldn't be any more proud of them. I'd been waiting to do a few group numbers for a couple years now and found that this year was the perfect timing. They performed "We Belong" by Pat Benetar and "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac....and they were awesome! Now that the kid show is done, we're on to the Reunion! Last night was dress rehearsal number one and we were there till 1 am - YIKES! Tonight won't be as bad. I think I broke a toe yesterday so I hopped around last night. Today it's a bit better, but still can't put pressure so it looks like i'll be hopping for the weekend. Oh well, still got my voice thus far so that's a plus! The Voice...

...so i've been watching "The Voice" this year and the finale was on last night. I didn't stay up to watch it, but have it taped and will be watching it tonight so don't tell me who won yet!! I love this show as it gives people a chance to be judged based on their voice alone, not on their appearance. It's amazing how well these people can sing and most would have been turned away at first sight as they don't fit the Britney Spears mold. The judges are Adam Levine (Maroon 5 - Frontman), Cee-Lo Green (Sang the very popular song "Forget You" a couple years ago), Christina Aguilera (no need to explain) and Blake Shelton (Country Superstar). THings I've observed about the judges: Adam: he's just super hot...like really hot...and nice....and seems real down to earth. Cee-Lo: Has little T-Rex arms, his sunglasses are molded in his head, he often is seen petting a cat like Dr. Evil and he's a huge pervert. I often say he has a "phone-sex operator" voice....very creepy. Christina: She feels the need to act like a diva. She shows off waaaaaayyyyyyyy too much cleavage - actually she's basically breastfeeding the audience every show. It's awful. She's the meanest of the gang. Blake: He's a total cowboy and I think he's drunk every show. He makes me laugh with his comments...very witty guy. Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought her breasts were overkill this year...read this article I found today regarding the show a couple nights ago. This is one of MANY boobalicious outfits. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/4306109/Breast-proud-Christina-Aguilera-boobs-on-US-TV-show-The-Voice.html Their little captions are hilarious! Hormones...

....so sometimes I like to pretend like i'm tough, but lately i've realized i'm not all that tough. I think it has to do with hormones. Females tend to get all emotional about stuff and also are really affected when someone tells them they're mean, rotten or accuse them of something they didn't do. Men don't react the same way at all...is it because they're not all hormonal like us? I have a bunch of male friends and tend to turn to them for advice as they have a wayyyy different perspective on certain situations because they can blow stuff off better. I find it helpful whenever i'm feeling all emotional and stuff. Women, I think, are hard wired to overthink things and we often blame ourselves first. DO men ever blame themselves for things? I highly doubt. Sometimes I wish I were more equiped to handle hard situations without getting all emotional. It would make life easier. I also wish I could pee in the woods without the potential of falling on the ground, peeing on myself or mooning others... "I get so emotional baby..." - Whitney Houston

Magic Keys...

...so Friday night I sang at the Red Knight with Alexa. We had a great time, believe it or not and towards the end we had a little crowd going. We joked, laughed, sang - it was great! During our little break, Alexa and I sat with hubby and my colleague. While there, the bouncer came over and asked: "Do you drive a Black Hyundai?" I said yes in a puzzled tone and then he proceeded to tell me that my trunk was open. Hummm, that's weird...my car was way out in the parking lot and I didn't open it for any reason before he had come in. He then said: "yeah, once I closed it, it popped open again so I shut it and then it opened again...did it like 5 times!" I said: "that's odd cause my keys are right here" (now frantically looking for my keys...) We then started laughing cause I realized I was SITTING on my keys LOL! Everytime I moved I must have hit the trunk button and it popped hahahaha! So now its either Hyundai makes awesome remotes or I have a very skilled rump!

Fishing...

...so on Friday I took the afternoon off and went trout fishing down the Barrington River. My family has a camp there so it's a great place to go relax, fish and chat with friends. One of the easiest ways to get there is by 4-Wheeler for about 10 minutes then a short treck through the woods to the river. Once there you hop in a homemade barge and paddle across to the camp. It was a great day despite our little wilderness walk lol. We took some friends with us and once off the wheelers I took the path, which I thought was the right one, towards the camp. Well I was wrong...rather than walk 5 minutes to the river we walked 25 minutes through the woods. I never laughed so hard in all my life. We just kept walking and laughing realizing that I would be a sucky partner to have during the Amazing Race or something. It was an adventure and every branch I walked by I winced knowing the ticks were out - YUCKKKK!! - but somehow we managed to get there without one of those nasty creatures hitchin' a ride on our pants.

We fished, drank beer, ate appetizers, told jokes, relaxed in the sun....one of the best days i've had in a while. Once home my mother decides to post pictures of our day. Well she posted this one of me fishing:

Do ya think she could have held off on this picture?? I don't think you can even notice there's a boat there let alone a damn fishing rod! Well, if you all didn't know before now, I have a big butt....and now so does all of facebook. LOL Good thing I wasn't bent over or something - lord help us all!

Here's a pic of us busting a gutt trying to cross the river after our lengthy walk though the woods...we look like a bunch of rednecks lol:

SARMU...

...so SARMU is coming up! This year is a special year in that there's also a reunion show. The regular kids show will take place May 13, 14 and 15. The reunion with some of the alumni will take place the following weekend (May 18, 19, 20). The plan is to sell advanced tickets for the reunion show as to avoid the lengthy line -up and there will be 5 shows. We practiced the last couple nights for the reunion and wow...it's amazing! The kid show this year is also awesome...great songs, lots of talent...just all around great music. I'll post more as the time comes closer.
