REUNION...
...so I spent the entire weekend singing with the SARMU Reunion gang and it was simply the best weekend i've had in years! I can't say enough how fun it was and now i'm going through some mild depression. The build up for the kids then the reunion was so huge that it's hard to go back to normal life after that. I sang "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt which is one of my alltime favorite songs and i'm pleased to say I received a standing ovation to a sold out crowd on the last night. It's the biggest compliment a singer can receive and I teared up on stage. Thanks guys...thanks!
A friend of mine taped it on her phone so here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAwEO9C4JlI&feature=share
Love you all :)

SARMU...
...so we just got done the SARMU kid show and now it's on to the Reunion. The kids did so good and I couldn't be any more proud of them. I'd been waiting to do a few group numbers for a couple years now and found that this year was the perfect timing. They performed "We Belong" by Pat Benetar and "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Mac....and they were awesome!
Now that the kid show is done, we're on to the Reunion! Last night was dress rehearsal number one and we were there till 1 am - YIKES! Tonight won't be as bad. I think I broke a toe yesterday so I hopped around last night. Today it's a bit better, but still can't put pressure so it looks like i'll be hopping for the weekend. Oh well, still got my voice thus far so that's a plus!

The Voice...
...so i've been watching "The Voice" this year and the finale was on last night. I didn't stay up to watch it, but have it taped and will be watching it tonight so don't tell me who won yet!!
I love this show as it gives people a chance to be judged based on their voice alone, not on their appearance. It's amazing how well these people can sing and most would have been turned away at first sight as they don't fit the Britney Spears mold.
The judges are Adam Levine (Maroon 5 - Frontman), Cee-Lo Green (Sang the very popular song "Forget You" a couple years ago), Christina Aguilera (no need to explain) and Blake Shelton (Country Superstar).
THings I've observed about the judges:
Adam: he's just super hot...like really hot...and nice....and seems real down to earth.
Cee-Lo: Has little T-Rex arms, his sunglasses are molded in his head, he often is seen petting a cat like Dr. Evil and he's a huge pervert. I often say he has a "phone-sex operator" voice....very creepy.
Christina: She feels the need to act like a diva. She shows off waaaaaayyyyyyyy too much cleavage - actually she's basically breastfeeding the audience every show. It's awful. She's the meanest of the gang.
Blake: He's a total cowboy and I think he's drunk every show. He makes me laugh with his comments...very witty guy.
Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought her breasts were overkill this year...read this article I found today regarding the show a couple nights ago. This is one of MANY boobalicious outfits.

Hormones...
....so sometimes I like to pretend like i'm tough, but lately i've realized i'm not all that tough. I think it has to do with hormones. Females tend to get all emotional about stuff and also are really affected when someone tells them they're mean, rotten or accuse them of something they didn't do. Men don't react the same way at all...is it because they're not all hormonal like us? I have a bunch of male friends and tend to turn to them for advice as they have a wayyyy different perspective on certain situations because they can blow stuff off better. I find it helpful whenever i'm feeling all emotional and stuff. Women, I think, are hard wired to overthink things and we often blame ourselves first. DO men ever blame themselves for things? I highly doubt.
Sometimes I wish I were more equiped to handle hard situations without getting all emotional. It would make life easier. I also wish I could pee in the woods without the potential of falling on the ground, peeing on myself or mooning others...

Magic Keys...
...so Friday night I sang at the Red Knight with Alexa. We had a great time, believe it or not and towards the end we had a little crowd going. We joked, laughed, sang - it was great! During our little break, Alexa and I sat with hubby and my colleague. While there, the bouncer came over and asked: "Do you drive a Black Hyundai?" I said yes in a puzzled tone and then he proceeded to tell me that my trunk was open. Hummm, that's weird...my car was way out in the parking lot and I didn't open it for any reason before he had come in. He then said: "yeah, once I closed it, it popped open again so I shut it and then it opened again...did it like 5 times!" I said: "that's odd cause my keys are right here" (now frantically looking for my keys...) We then started laughing cause I realized I was SITTING on my keys LOL! Everytime I moved I must have hit the trunk button and it popped hahahaha!
So now its either Hyundai makes awesome remotes or I have a very skilled rump!

Fishing...
...so on Friday I took the afternoon off and went trout fishing down the Barrington River. My family has a camp there so it's a great place to go relax, fish and chat with friends. One of the easiest ways to get there is by 4-Wheeler for about 10 minutes then a short treck through the woods to the river. Once there you hop in a homemade barge and paddle across to the camp. It was a great day despite our little wilderness walk lol. We took some friends with us and once off the wheelers I took the path, which I thought was the right one, towards the camp. Well I was wrong...rather than walk 5 minutes to the river we walked 25 minutes through the woods. I never laughed so hard in all my life. We just kept walking and laughing realizing that I would be a sucky partner to have during the Amazing Race or something. It was an adventure and every branch I walked by I winced knowing the ticks were out - YUCKKKK!! - but somehow we managed to get there without one of those nasty creatures hitchin' a ride on our pants.
We fished, drank beer, ate appetizers, told jokes, relaxed in the sun....one of the best days i've had in a while. Once home my mother decides to post pictures of our day. Well she posted this one of me fishing:

Do ya think she could have held off on this picture?? I don't think you can even notice there's a boat there let alone a damn fishing rod! Well, if you all didn't know before now, I have a big butt....and now so does all of facebook. LOL Good thing I wasn't bent over or something - lord help us all!
Here's a pic of us busting a gutt trying to cross the river after our lengthy walk though the woods...we look like a bunch of rednecks lol:

SARMU...
...so SARMU is coming up! This year is a special year in that there's also a reunion show. The regular kids show will take place May 13, 14 and 15. The reunion with some of the alumni will take place the following weekend (May 18, 19, 20). The plan is to sell advanced tickets for the reunion show as to avoid the lengthy line -up and there will be 5 shows. We practiced the last couple nights for the reunion and wow...it's amazing! The kid show this year is also awesome...great songs, lots of talent...just all around great music. I'll post more as the time comes closer.

Naturopath, take 2...
...so if you read the last post I talked about my visit to the Naturopath. I didn't mention to all of you that he recommended I start "tea baggin'" bahahaha...it was hilarious! I drink wayyyyyy wayyy wayyyyyyyy too much coffee. There are days that go by that all I've had to drink was coffee, I know, bad stuff. Anyways he wants me to cut back - no surprise, but also wants me to drink more of something else. He knows I like a warm beverages so Tea without caffeine would do the trick. Well here's the problem, I hate tea. He sent me off on a mission to David's Teas in Hfx to find a tea that doesn't taste like tea...so I did! I found a tea called Forever Nuts that tastes nothing like tea. Little did I know, the tea's there come in loose format so you need a disposable bag or a metal "tea bagger" lol...I got the metal thingy....and now can be found "tea Baggin'" allll over the place!
Hubby thought it was great that the Naturopath prescribed "tea baggin'" till he realized it had nothing to do with him ;)
Hubby thought it was great that the Naturopath prescribed "tea baggin'" till he realized it had nothing to do with him ;)
HELLLOOOOOO!!!....
...so I'm back! I didn't realize so many people read my comments, rants, jokes, etc. and definitely wouldn't want to let any of you down! I find myself running around like a crazy person between work, kids, hubby and all the extra's I do so sometimes I feel like blogging should be last on the list. Little did I know, it's kinda like my very own therapy. Damn it...Oprah was right after all these years with her touchy-feely weirdo talk. Apparently she calls it "Journaling", I call it blogging.
You'd be totally suprised to hear that I went to see Naturopathic Doctor. I know, I hear the gasps...can you imagine what my granola friend had to say when she heard that?!? LOL! I did, yup, took the plunge on the dark side...or whole-grain side so to speak ;)
I met Dr. Connelly at a work seminar and was extremely impressed with his outlook on Natural Medicine. He believes in traditional medicine - YAY! and doesn't believe that the only way to live is via natural medicines, herbs, food and creams - Another YAY! He is around my age and is super current on the science behind natural medicine. Everything he says is based on actual facts not just hold this branch, roll 5 times in a hay field, eat these 15 supplements, cut out all food you like to eat, and drink a well of water to cure your whatever. He believes that if you have HEart Disease, you need meds. If you are at risk for Heart Disease, you need to change things in order to help prevent before the meds. Makes sense, doesn't it?
The appointment was 2 hrs long and asked every question known to mankind...even what my poop looks like. Oh dear, I rushed through those...turned red (which never happens)...then asked him what his poop looked like! hahaha, couldn't help it...what on earth is it supposed to look like? You tell me and i'll tell you if I fit that list lol.
I also posted a conversation we had on my facebook this morning that went like so:
Naturopath: "So when you gain weight, do you gain it on your hips, thighs, butt and breast area?"
Lise: "hahaha, look up Dr! Am I not a walking, breathing and talking definition of what you just said lol?"
Naturopath (now laughing): "well sometimes people still have weight gain in other areas first."
Lise: "Ohhh that's right, I forgot...I have a real problem with my fat feet ;)"
Lise and Naturopath: LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY!
We laughed a lot during this appointment but it was very informative. I might be diggin' this new outlook on health. Now, would I go running to every Naturopath - NOPE, absolutely not. I think many are quacks, just like in any profession. It's about finding someone that you click with - I think we clicked :)
I'll keep you posted.

wow...
...so it's been a busy month! I know i've been away a while, but haven't gone too far. I was busy party planning! I had a big 30th Birthday Bash with my cousin 40-year old cougar. What a night! There were between 250 and 300 people at the party and it was one of the best nights ever. We danced all night and just had a great time! I thank all those who came...thanks for making our night so much fun!
Aside from that I helped plan Alexa's CD Release Party. That was also very successful and we just couldn't be happier. Her CD is out now so get your copy!! It's called "Edge of Gone" and check out her facebook page for a list of locations: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Alexa-dEntremont/154353834623657
In other news, a friend of mine sent me this article and I couldn't help but laugh. Some people are just dumb....no other word that I can use...just dumb. You'll see what I mean lol :

Survivor...
...so I've been watching Survivor since the beginning. Over the last few seasons, I've noticed a trend. It's the trend of the Blue Safari Shirt! The host, Jeff Probst, is constantly wearing the same shirt...every show, every event, everything. Take note of the blue shirt...you'd think they could afford a variety of colors, styles, etc.

Halloween treats...
...so is there a need to have a holiday devoted to Candy Consumption? Those little chocolate bars are the death of me. We all....ADMIT IT!!!....take one, then just cause it's little we take the second and that sometimes leads to the third, etc...
Not only that, I feel the need to eat them quickly. LIke, shove 3 in one after the other as if it makes any difference on the calorie count! Like, what the heck? Yup, take one then unwrap the other two as quick as I can and inhale them. I dont know if I do this so nobody seems me...or i'm trying to trick my body into thinking I only ate one cause I only opened my mouth once...I don't know. It's kinda ridiculous!
I also ate a mini bag of cheesies. I actually justified it to myself by telling Hubby that there was only 100 Calories in the whole bag! HAHAHA Yup, and actually that's no lie...the thing I left out was the fact that there was 9 grams of fat in that same 100 Calories...oops!!
Sadly, my thighs know the truth...

ALEXA CD RELEASE...
"Love and Marriage..." ...
...So Kim Kardashian is getting a divorce after 72 days. It's funny cause I honestly thought maybe she liked him. Apparently not but it worked out in her favor anyways. This year, so far, she's made $65 million. Guess the wedding talk, wedding prep, the actual wedding, the TV specials regarding the wedding, etc... worked well for her wallet! I bet she'll still profit from the divorce by selling her story to every tabloid known to mankind. This will drag on forever.
She's being mocked by everyone so I think she's been facing a harsh reality over the last few days. No one in the media is feeling bad for her...actually she's the butt of every joke (no pun intended lol )
According to reports, there was a pre-nup. On the show they talked a lot about this pre-nup and Kim acted like she didn't want one as it was true love. Apparently that was all an act as you can't be soooooo in love one day and divorced 72 later.
These celebrities are ruining what marriage is all about. It's a shame cause there are people in this world who actually do get married for love. Oh well, gives us something to talk about.
You wait...she'll be in the hospital in no time because she's sooooo devastated and doesn't eat or something ridiculous. I'm calling it now :)

Website...
...so as some of you know, I've been real busy helping Alexa get her career off the ground. It's been a HUGE project and I have put everything I have into this with her. She's like one of my own so I would do anything to see her succeed. There are lots of things involved with getting a CD off the ground - who knew?
You might surprised but it's many hours in the studio, many hours of listening and fine tuning things, a website needs to be perfect, the CD Packaging needs to be perfect, the cover photo needs to mesh with the vibe of the CD, the rights to the songs needs to applied for, the CD Release needs to be planned, the CD's need to be ordered, the band needs to get organized...then is radio promotion, Gigs to promote the album, a trip to Nashville in the New Year....the list goes on.
It's a lot of work so anytime you can get some help from a pro in each of those areas, it's a huge weight lifted from your shoulders. When we started talking about the website - the stress began. How do we do this? Who do we call? Do we have to code out a site? How do you buy a domain name? What the hell is a domain name? LOL...as you can see we were pretty novice at this.
I called Register.com...afterall it's down the road from my office and I know tons of people there...good starting point. I have to say, Register.com is the most organized, helpful, amazing organization i've ever had to deal with. You do get moved on from person to person but each person knows exactly what part of the process you are at and the flow continues like clockwork. It's not like when you call a company and they pass you on and you have to start all over again. You get moved to the next person when you're done with the first. I never repeated myself once. By talking to them in a series of phone calls they set up a proof. Then you review and keep doing that till it's done. After every call you get an email notifying you of what part of the process you are at and what's to be expected the next time. It's the easiest thing ever. I know absolutely nothing about websites and I ended up creating this:
www.musicbyalexa.com
Check it out! I'm real proud of the way it turned out! They helped with write-ups, layout, font, picture placing, all the different tab ideas...EVERYTHING! You have to pay a monthly user fee and it's so worth it cause when you need something changed or added you can just fire off an email and within 3 days it's done! Easy, Easy, EAAAAASY!
Register.com: You guys really do amazing work! Thanks :)

Extreme Couponing...
...so I watched the above show last night. I had seen it before but really got into last night as it must have been a marathon or something. These people are nuts, in a good way! They spend about 40 hrs per week clipping coupons, researching grocery sales and organizing their stock piles. One lady went to the store and 9 hrs later she bought over $1100 worth of stuff for $8.00. It's crazy!! She had a big trailer to lug the stuff back home.
Keep in mind that our grocery stores don't have the same promotions as the US stores so it wouldn't be as easy to do here...but could still be effective. This one lady had a bunch of coupons for cereal. It didn't specify the size so she bought the mini cereal boxes. Her coupon was for 50 cents off and the cereal was on sale for 25 cents per box. The store doubled the coupons so on each box she made 50 cents! She bought 1200 boxes and MADE herself $300! It's nuts!!! She used that to buy things she didnt have coupons for like fruit and veggies.
It's totally addicting and amazing. I dreamt of groceries and food all fricken night....and woke up starving....ugh....

Rosie...
...so Rosie O'Donnell is back on TV. She started up again last week on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) at the 8 PM slot. I've been watching and I gotta say, I kinda like it. Rosie always made me laugh cause she's so loud, opinionated, raw, sometimes annoying...sorta like me I guess lol! She starts the show with a bit of stand-up and audience interaction then moves on to a couple guests and ends with a game of some kind.
I find her interviews are very interesting cause of her little stories and comments in between. It's like she's talking to them in their living rooms and nothing is off limits. She rolls with it...I like that. Kinda mindless interviews, nothing too intense like Oprah's show. The one thing that does annoy me is the voice of the announcer lady. She has a high-pitched, fake, annoying speaking voice...makes me cringe. Sorta like a high-pitched Fran Drescher.
Watch it and tell me what you think! I can see it wouldn't be for everyone as her type of humor consists of her making fun of herself and everyone....but makes me laugh! Let's face it people, in our culture we all make fun of ourselves and everyone else...Rosie just does it publicly!

Apple...
...so Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple has died at the age of 56. He'd been fighting Cancer for a number of years and just couldn't win the battle. Steve Jobs has a pretty amazing story...a school drop out, started Apple in the garage of his parents house, failed and started over again a million times and was always second to Bill Gates until he developed the ipod, ipad and itunes. Since then he's been the leader in the industry. It's extremely sad and it makes you think about your life and those around you. We all want to have more money and have a more meaningful life. We think that if we had that, life would be perfect. He had all that plus lived a very healthy lifestyle and here we are today talking about his death at such a young age. It's just a reminder that we have to live for today, be happy with our lives and not strive for what others have...live YOUR life and live it to the best YOU can.

Sale of Clearwater??...
...so I read in the paper that a firm in NB is looking to takeover Clearwater. Clearwater is the largest seafood export company in the Province. Many of the lobsters that are caught around here go from the buyer to Clearwater then out around the world. According to the article in the Chronicle Herald today, they are worth over $70 Million...wowza! It's hard to understand in the article but the jist of it is that this new firm wants to buy many of the shares at a higher than market price. Due to some corporate restructuring done by Clearwater founders, John Risley and Colin MacDonald, if this new firm did what they wanted to they would own the majority of the company. I'm not sure how this will all play out, but it appears to me like these two firms don't like each other and are going to fight.
What does that mean for our Lobster Fisherman? Well, I would think it could be a problem because if someone pays top dollar to buy a company then they need to see some hefty profits to recoup they're money and then make a return. The only way to do that is to pay less for things and have a higher mark-up to the consumer. The gap between the two prices is a profit...hummmm....I don't know. On the flipside, a new company might want to come in and make a good name for themselves and build a strong rapport with the people. Let's face it, they'll make money. Companies that are dead in the water aren't the ones being bought. Too big of a risk.
The more they argue the more we'll read about it...could be interesting!
